Washington Post: ‘Obama’s Foreign Policy Is Based on Fantasy’
Amy Payne

March 3, 2014 at 11:28 am

President Obama has lost The Washington Post’s editorial board with his disastrous foreign policy. (DUH)

In a hard-hitting editorial today, the Post’s editors declared Obama’s outlook a “fantasy” and said that “For five years, President Obama has led a foreign policy based more on how he thinks the world should operate than on reality.”

They described Obama’s fantasy world:
It was a world in which “the tide of war is receding” and the United States could, without much risk, radically reduce the size of its armed forces. Other leaders, in this vision, would behave rationally and in the interest of their people and the world. Invasions, brute force, great-power games and shifting alliances — these were things of the past

This is exactly what Heritage’s James Carafano and Kim Holmes warned about early in the Obama presidency.

“The tenets of the Obama Doctrine… do not reflect history or the threats we face,” said Carafano, the E. W. Richardson Fellow, and Holmes, author of Liberty’s Best Hope: American Leadership for the 21st Century. “They will serve to undermine America’s strengths and make it more difficult for friends and allies to figure out where we stand or how we might act in critical times.”

Behind the West’s Miscalculations in Ukraine
U.S. Had Let Europe Take Lead in Guiding Westward Drift of Former Soviet Republic

By Adam Entous in Washington and Laurence Norman in Brussels | Updated March 3, 2014 10:39 p.m. ET

The U.S. ambassador was waiting in the office of then-Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych in November, anxious for a decision that would cinch closer ties with the West, when he ran across a staffer bearing unwelcome news.

“I can’t believe it. I just came from seeing the president. He’s told me we’re going to put the European project on pause,” Mr. Yanukovych’s chief of staff, Serhiy Lyovochkyn, told U.S. Ambassador Geoffrey Pyatt, according to a person who was present.

The ambassador asked how the president intended to explain the turnabout to 46 million Ukrainians expecting a new pact with the European Union.

“I have no idea,” Mr. Lyovochkyn said. “…I don’t think they have a Plan B unless it’s a dacha on the outskirts of Moscow.”

The exchange made clear the U.S. would have to come up with its own Plan B. For the previous two years, the Obama administration had sought to let Europe take the lead in guiding the westward political and economic drift of the former Soviet republic, with the U.S. in a supporting role.

Now, the U.S. has been drawn front and center at a far more difficult time—after blood has been shed, battle lines drawn and Russian ire provoked.

Locked today in the very East-West standoff the administration had hoped to avoid, “The U.S. is now in the lead,” a senior U.S. official said.

Many European diplomats felt that while the U.S. portrayed itself as acting tough in recent weeks, the Americans had left them alone on the Ukraine issue for far too long, preferring to prioritize Washington’s own ties with Moscow.

    More at the link.

The President of the United States is, by default, the diplomatic leader of the free world . . . unless the man person who happens to be President chooses to abandon the role.

  2. The President of the United States is, by default, the diplomatic leader of the free world . . . unless the man person who happens to be President chooses to abandon the role.

The problem is that person chose not to recognize the role.

  3. Obama looked into Putin’s eyes and saw himself. They’re birds of a feather, ideological brothers, totalitarians in cahoots to partition Ukraine, divide the West, scuttle NATO, cripple the US, and celebrate the beginning of the Marxist Century.

  4. This reads like Blu wrote it. I was almost sure she did until a different name showed up. But it’s not from a kook site, but one that has a Conservative base to it.

Ukraine Crisis: Just Another Globalist-Engineered Powder Keg
March 4, 2014 by Brandon Smith

When one studies history, all events seem to revolve around the applications and degenerations of war. Great feats of human understanding, realization and enlightenment barely register in the mental footnotes of the average person. War is what we remember, idealize and aggrandize, which is why war is the tool most often exploited by oligarchy to distract the masses while it centralizes power.

With the exception of a few revolutions, most wars are instigated and controlled by financial elites, manipulating governments on both sides of the game to produce a preconceived result. The rise of National Socialism in Germany, for instance, was largely funded by corporate entities based in the U.S., including Rockefeller giant Standard Oil, JPMorgan and even IBM, which built the collating machines used to organize Nazi extermination camps, the same machines IBM representatives serviced on site at places like Auschwitz. As a public figure, Adolf Hitler was considered a joke by most people in German society, until, of course, the Nazi Party received incredible levels of corporate investment. This aid was most evident in what came to be known as the Keppler Fund created through the Keppler Circle, a group of interests with contacts largely based in the U.S.

George W. Bush’s grandfather, Prescott Bush, used his position as director of the New York-based Union Banking Corporation to launder money for the Third Reich throughout the war. After being exposed and charged for trading with the enemy, the case against Bush magically disappeared in a puff of smoke, and the Bush family went on to become one of the most powerful political forces in America.

Without the aid of international conglomerates and banks, the Third Reich would have never risen to power.

The rise of communism in Russia through the Bolshevik Revolution was no different. As outlined in Professor Anthony Sutton’s book Wall Street And The Bolshevik Revolution with vast detail and irrefutable supporting evidence, it was globalist financiers that created the social petri dish in which the communist takeover flourished.

More here – Long read, but possibly worth it. Essentially, like Rope’s comment, we’re being played for suckers.

  5. SAY WHAT?????????? Now I never know what to believe anymore.

Did The US Just Attack Russia’s Largest Oil Refinery?
    March 4, 2014

“Neftekamskneftehim” is the largest oil refinery in Europe. It is located in Tatarstan, Russia and today, at 7.00pm Moscow Time, dozens of firemen were urgently summoned as the oil giant started burning.

(by Susan Duclos) — If any proof comes to light that the US or the US via an ally, struck at Europe’s largest oil refinery, which just happens to be located in Tatarstan, Russia, then we will have a full-scale world war on our hands and heaven help us all.

(3/5/14 Note: 10:00am Searched many sites to confirm this. There Russian sites saying it, but mostly a rehash of the above. It appears there is a fire, I think, but the Brits who usually are quicker than the MSM are silent as well as Drudge.)
