Here’s an old joke that pretty much describes the current situation (it’s short, so I’ll tell it quickly).
A woman is crossing a river in a small boat. About halfway across she sees a snake drifting by.
“Help, help!” says the snake, “Save me!”
“But you’ll bite” says the woman.
“No I won’t. I promise”
So she picks him up and proceeds to the other shore. And, as soon as she puts the snake down, it bites her.
“But you promised!” said the woman.
“You knew what I was when you picked me up” the snake replied.
What’s the point? Unlike the unfortunate woman in the story, we know what Perry is. There’s no point in discussing him any further. And, like the snake, he’s taking advantage of a (I’m sorry to say) foolish act of kindness.
So, a decision has to be made. Either Perry goes or he doesn’t. Either the rules apply or they don’t. And, I’ll make it simpler yet. Either Perry goes or I go. I’m not going to be an “Enabler” to this farce, as they say in the alcohol and drug abuse community. And I would advise all my conservative friends (Hoagie, York, Hube, DNW, etc. ) to come with me. If Dana really WANTS Perry to stay (and that appears to be the case), he and Perry can share it all to themselves.
Rope is right. Either flush the turds, or call a plumber, or expect all the decent house guests to leave.
Which is it?
