Site Problems

I’ve had some complaints that the site has been running very slowly, and spoke with my site hosting service earlier today. Some of the problems were at their end: they were having system problems. Other problems were with the site: the two side pages, the Comments & Conduct Policy and the Copyright & Reprints Policy pages, had been hacked, and had some background spam for exactly the kind of things you’d expect spammers to try to insert.

The solution to that was to trash those pages, and rewrite them from scratch; that has been done, which makes the page url’s different.

In addition, I am going to upgrade from WordPress 3.4.1 to WordPress 3.5, beginning in a few minutes; this may make the site unavailable for a bit.

  1. It’s been taking forever on my end, too. Glad you’ve discovered the problems and hopefully the upgrade to WordPress 3.5 will help.

  2. “Comments & Conduct Policy and the Copyright & Reprints Policy pages, had been hacked, …”

Why target those pages? Who reads them as a matter of course?

  3. Obviously you don’t read them, DNW, nor does our Editor enforce them in a non-partisan fashion

    .

Indeed? Except that no one except you has ever threatened anyone in this forum, Perry. And you’ve done it multiple times. If Editor was truly partisan, you’d have been booted LONG ago.
