I had a few pictures from the second weekend of the Jim Thorpe Fall Foliage Festival eight days ago; these were taken today, the third and last weekend of the Fall Foliage Festival. We are pretty much at high color right now, and while we still have a few green trees around, I would guess that a lot of the leaves will be down by next weekend. Click on any picture to embiggen.

A look up the hillside on the north side of Broadway. Broadway and West Broadway runs in what is almost a ravine, between two hillsides. Those hillsides are so steep that you have to use your hands as well as your feet to climb them in most places.

There isn’t much space on West Broadway for houses, and a big side yard garden like this means that there used to be a house here which was torn down. The wrought iron fence is new, but this garden has been here for at least the ten years I have lived in Jim Thorpe.
Somehow, I switched my camera settings, and the last several pictures are absolutely huge in the originals. There are many more in a Facebook album.

ABSOLUTELY gorgeous! I feel like Oklahoma, which usually has nice, if not amazing, autumns has been cheated this year. The ravages of drought, combined with record-setting summer heat played havoc with our trees.
I will enjoy the beauty of other parts of the country–like yours in Jim Thorpe, PA–from afar, thanks to your photos.
If Oklahoma has been cheated, I’m sure it’s all George Bush’s fault!
We had a dry month or six weeks in the middle of summer, but have been fairly wet since August.
