  1. ED:
    five Democrats bravely voted “present.”

Looks BO taught them something. Must be moderates – the ultimate in saying “I’m not paying any attention to anything.”

  2. “Seventeen Democrats voted for the criminal contempt charge, and twenty-one for the civil contempt charge; five Democrats bravely voted “present.””

Right, this because of the disgraceful political power of the NRA, to which a bunch of Dem chickens have lowered themselves to a suppliant position, instead of standing tall against NRA extremism. Last time I checked, the NRA is not a religion! Oh wait, to some it is!

  3. “The disgraceful political power of the NRA?” If the National Rifle Association has any political power, it is to persuade people to vote in a manner the NRA likes, but those are still the votes of free people.

Somehow you seem to think that votes that are cast in a manner you like are free and independent votes, while the votes which go to conservatives are somehow enslaved to evil conservative organizations.

Of course, if the Attorney General has actually done everything wisely and legally, he’d have turned over the requested documents without a nasty fight. If there were some concerns about confidential information, such could easily be worked out, because it has been before, and the proper procedures are already known.

Instead, the Attorney General is doing his damnedest to make it look like he has something to hide. Why is that?

  4. Bill O’Reilly nailed it yesterday. The Terry family is entitled to answers, and the Democrats just spit in their faces.

  5. Since Ronald Machen, the Attorney General’s lap dog US Attorney in DC, has announced he won’t prosecute his boss for contempt or obstruction, the House has the option of instructing their Sergeant-at-Arms arrest Holder. It’s unlikely, but it is an option and Holder sure as hell has it coming. Crooks belong in jail.

Incidentally, Machen was appointed to his plum position by Barack Obama on the recommendation of Eleanor Holmes Norton. Machen has been contributing to Obama’s campaigns since his first run for the Senate and continued contributing when Obama ran for the White House in 2008, and just might be on Obama’s current list of contributors.

  6. Machen is also one of the lap dogs assigned to investigate security leaks by White House officials. Small world eh?

  7. Finally fed up with Eric Holder’s lies, Rep. Darrell Issa has exposed portions of sealed DOJ wiretap applications from Fast-n-Furious which reveal that Eric Holder lied under oath over and over again to Congress and that the highest officials at DOJ knew the deadly gun running program was delivering AK-47 style assault weapons into the hands of murderous criminals and conspired to conceal DOJ’s guilt from lawful Congressional oversight. J. Yager has the article in The Hill today.

Issa reveals wiretap docs from DOJ mole

Issa entered the sensitive, and previously undisclosed, information into the Congressional Record on Thursday during the floor debate leading up to the passage of his resolution placing Attorney General Eric Holder in contempt of Congress.

The powerful Republican might be protected from what otherwise would be a criminal offense under Congress’s speech and debate clause because the remarks were written into the public record during chamber proceedings.

During his probe of Fast and Furious as chairman of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee, Issa has focused on a series of six wiretap applications that federal officials implemented in an attempt to dismantle gun-trafficking rings in the Southwest.

The applications, which are under a federal court’s seal, were given to Issa by a mole with access to the documents. Issa has claimed they reveal that top-level Justice Department officials signed off on the documents and knew about the controversial “gun-walking” tactics used in Fast and Furious. Issa has called his source a “whistleblower” and refused to disclose his or her identity.

“The enclosed wiretap affidavit contains clear information that agents were willfully allowing known straw buyers to acquire firearms for drug cartels and failing to interdict them — in some cases even allowing them to walk to Mexico…”

  8. From CNN – The Comedy News Network

CNN: Did Operation Fast and Furious Even Happen?

Eric Holder, President Barack Obama, and Congress all have admitted Operation Fast and Furious happened. There are internal emails that talk about it. The scandal right now is that Eric Holder won’t release internal document related to Operation Fast and Furious. Now you have Soledad O’Brien questioning if it even happened at all. No wonder their ratings are so low. The Liberal Left Media are getting so desperate it isn’t funny anymore. I just have to shake my head everyday at the straws they are grabbing at. If only there were straws for them.

According to Breitbart News, the source for the Soledad story, Fortune, flat out lies about the information. According to Chairman Issa Fortune‘s story is complete fantasy as the emails and video surveillance all contradict and rebut this “new found” information.

Chairman Darrell Issa’s press secretary Becca Glover emailed this statement:

Fortune’s story is a fantasy made up almost entirely from the accounts of individuals involved in the reckless tactics that took place in Operation Fast and Furious. It contains factual errors – including the false statement that Chairman Issa has called for Attorney General Holder’s resignation – and multiple distortions. It also hides critical information from readers – including a report in the Wall Street Journal – indicating that its primary sources may be facing criminal charges. Congressional staff gave Fortune Magazine numerous examples of false statements made by the story’s primary source and the magazine did not dispute this information. It did not, however, explain this material to its readers. The one point of agreement the Committee has with this story is its emphasis on the role Justice Department prosecutors, not just ATF agents, played in guns being transferred to drug cartels in Mexico. The allegations made in the story have been examined and rejected by congressional Republicans, Democrats, and the Justice Department.

  9. There’s quite a bit of information in CNN/Fortune’s article and it sure as hell doesn’t support Soledad O’Brien’s conclusions, unless you were born yesterday or you’re desperately grasping at straws to find reasons to believe Eric Holder’s fairy tales.

Here’s it is for those who care: The FBI was giving taxpayer money to drug cartel operatives to organize teams of straw buyers. The FBI was paving the way for the illegal purchases by approving computerized background checks at the point of purchase.

Retail gun shops were told to continue to sell dozens of guns to the same straw buyers and then let the buyers go on their way without tracking the guns or maintaining surveillance on the buyers.

When gun shop owners and ATF field agents objected to the DOJ’s gun running program, they were told to go along with the program.

Finally, when Border Patrol Agent Brian Terry was murdered with guns the FBI had supplied the money to buy and had been reported to ATF and let walk, the lower level ATF field agents let the cat out of the bag. When the facts started to come out on the web and on CBS Eric Holder and top level officials at DOJ conspired to cover it up and as Congress pressed for information President Obama joined the cover up and claimed Executive Privilege.

It didn’t work for Nixon and it won’t work for Obama.

  10. Obama believes he can be as criminal as he wants. Afterall, he has the AG in his pocket. I’m sure Eric Withholder has a good list of crimes and lies of BO to keep his silence. But with the released now unclassified list of crimes by DOJ out, and I saw the mole has give Issa more, but don’t know what.

Two things: follow the money, and what did BO and Withholder know, and when did they know it. This cover-up will be worse than the crime. And BO’s Executive Privilege now makes him a willing participant.

Remember with Nixon, it started the same way of being nothing, butt in the end, Nixon resigned. I don’t expect Withholder and BO to be so honorable.

  11. York, it was Barack Obama, Eric Holder, and Hillary Clinton who designed the gun running operation in order to manufacture evidence to support their often stated, but bogus, claim that the overwhelming majority (90%) of guns used by Mexican criminals, especially drug cartel boogeyman murderers, came from the US and were sold in local gun shops along the Southwestern border in states with lax gun laws, like Arizona and Texas.

States which the Gunrunning Gang of Three knew were not only populated by bitter clingers with their guns and bibles, but also harbored festering hot-beds of political enemies including governors who openly opposed Democrat policies on everything from illegal immigration, to health care, to 2nd Amendment rights and most else everything in between.

One after another the Gunrunning Gang of Three, along with a few co-conspirators in Congress, they foreshadowed the secret White House gun running operation with the bogus 90% claim, and then set out to manufacture the evidence to back it up.

On June 21, 2012 Rus Vaughn at the American Thinker made the case, an excerpt follows. It’s well worth reading the entire article. (emphasis added)

    Fast and Furious Falling Apart

…For those who haven’t really followed the Fast and Furious scandal, here’s a five-step summary of how the operation was supposed to work:

1.Allow guns to flow freely to criminal elements in Mexico, where they are naturally used in the extremely violent and deadly criminal activities of the drug cartels.

2.When sufficient guns of American origin have been used in such criminal activities, enlist the willing services of the liberal media to announce the discovery thereof to the world.

3.Enlist multiple prominent Democrats to untruthfully proclaim that 90% of the guns used in Mexican crimes originate in the U.S.

4.Use steps one through three to substantiate the liberal fallacy that private gun ownership leads to increased gun violence by gun owners.

5.With the compliance of a thoroughly duped American public, enact increasingly restrictive gun ownership policies through federal agencies, bypassing Congress and the Supreme Court.

When looked at this way, doesn’t Obama’s statement to a group of gun control advocates in March 2011 that he was taking steps to further gun control restrictions, but “under the radar,” now seem less cryptic than it did at the time? For those who still don’t believe Fast & Furious was an end-run on the 2nd Amendment by a liberal, gun-averse administration, here are five questions to consider:

1.Could the possibility that this plan was concocted at the very top of the administration, putting it on par with Watergate, explain Eric Holder’s entrenched refusal to release the tens of thousands of documents being sought by congressional investigators?

2.Is the liberal media’s refusal to investigate this scandal due to the fact that they suspect that the acts of this administration may rise to criminal and impeachable offenses?

3.Has the reluctance of the Republican leadership to more aggressively support the House investigation been attributable to the same possibility — that full exposure could lead straight to the Oval Office and the politically unsavory possibility of impeachment of the nation’s first black president?

4.Does anyone really think an ambitious politician like Holder would risk career-ending contempt of Congress charges to protect some incredibly stupid subordinates who supposedly, all by themselves, planned and implemented such a boondoggle?

5.In an administration known for its quickness in throwing friends and associates under the bus in matters of self-preservation, is it not remarkable that rather than being so dispatched by Holder, many of the key players in F&F have been promoted despite denials by their bureau?

If all this sounds like a bit too much to swallow, consider the political origins of the key players in the current administration. All are products of the Chicago political machine, a thoroughly Democrat movement particularly hostile to the concept of citizen gun ownership as demonstrated by the some of the nation’s most restrictive gun ownership laws being in place there. And to prove the folly of those laws and the liberal fallacy that disarming the citizenry reduces crime, here’s a quite recent headline from that bastion of conservative thought and opinion, Huffington Post: “Chicago Homicide Rate Worse Than Kabul, Up To 200 Police Assigned To High-Profile Wedding (Video).”

We are quick to blame the policies and activities of the Mexican drug cartels for their nation’s murder rate being among the highest in the world. Is it not then fair to apply the same blame to those who control a city with some of the most restrictive gun ownership laws in America, which are yielding gun-death fatality stats almost double the total casualty rate for American troops in the Afghan war zone? It is the total and vise-like hold the Democrat machine has on Chicago that has made this city the riskiest place in America for law-abiding citizens, turning them into helpless, unarmed sheep at the mercy of roving, well-armed, predatory wolves.

Doesn’t Chicago sound a lot like Mexico to you?

Never lose sight of the real reason why liberals want to confiscate your guns. Liberals assert that government is the protector of all our freedoms, and therefore we need not be concerned with protecting ourselves and our loved ones. The folly of that assertion can be refuted with one word: Chicago. But the true reason for wanting an unarmed public is because such a citizenry is powerless in the face of armed government and therefore compliant. Liberals and Democrats know full well that the key to unrestrained governing is to first disarm the citizenry.

  12. Lies, corruption, huge tax increases on the middle class, gun running, dodging all responsability, blaming everybody else, obfuscation. These are the attributes of the Chicago thugs now inhabiting Washington. The new normal is 8% unemployment, 16 trillion in debt, a sinking credit rating, empty forclosed houses, 47 million on food stamps and on and on. I guess Wagonwheel is correct when he says the government has a central roll to play in our lives. Unfortunately the roll these criminals, lead by dictator Obama, have chosen is that of The Great Destroyers. Fundamentally change America, indeed. Will this change stop when we get to the level of France or will they proceed to the level of North Korea? Then we’ll see just how wonderful having the government playing a central roll in our lives really is.

  13. Hoagie, truth be told, in his heart of hearts Barack Obama thinks Pol Pot’s attempts to fundamentally transform Cambodia didn’t go far enough.

Socialist dictators are remarkably similar, when the people refuse to embrace the failing collectivist policies of an increasingly authoritarian regime the coercive power of the central government administers punishments, first in the form of increased taxes, then re-education camps, and finally the killing fields.

Imagine your fate in the hands of an Anthony Weiner, or a Michelle Obama, or a Debbie Wasserman-Schultz, or an Al Sharpton and you’ll get an idea of how those Cambodians calculated their chances of survival as they were herded out into those dark and muddy fields.

  14. Well ropelight, it’s really quite easy to do. First you give people labels like “Machiavellian”, “dysfunctional”, “racist”, “greedy” or “unAmerican”. Then once the labels take hold ostrisize these people, pass laws directly intended to harm them. Soon they’ll either leave or change their thinking so as not to be an “outsider”. The ones who remain and refuse to change you incarcerate as “enemies of the state”. It helps along the way if you refuse to proceute thugs with clubs at polling places or leaglize a million or so aliens to help supress the legitimate votes of American citizens. And you can do it all “for the children” or in the name of “social justice”. And feel good about yourself too!

  15. Right, this because of the disgraceful political power of the NRA, to which a bunch of Dem chickens have lowered themselves to a suppliant position, instead of standing tall against NRA extremism. Last time I checked, the NRA is not a religion! Oh wait, to some it is!

You claim to be a relativist, and then you write stuff like the above, where your hatred of the NRA is noticeably absolute.

BTW, it is obvious that you don’t care about the family of the Border Patrol agent qho was killed. All you care about is protecting Holder and Obama, for crass partisan political reasons.
