The guy who wouldn’t let people see his birth certificate demands that Mitt Romney publish his tax returns

From The Washington Post:

Obama urges Romney to release previous federal tax returns, says important to be transparent

By Associated Press, Updated: Saturday, April 14, 2:34 PM

WASHINGTON — President Barack Obama has called on Republican Mitt Romney to release his past tax returns, saying that candidates for office need to be “as transparent as possible.”

Obama told Univision in an interview conducted at the Summit of the Americas in Colombia that candidates need to disclose their tax records as a way of letting the public know their financial background. It was the first time Obama had made the request personally, His campaign has pressured Romney to release a trove of tax documents going back to the 1990s.

“I think that it’s important for any candidate in public office to be as transparent as possible, to let people know who we are, what we stand for, and you know, I think that this is just carrying on a tradition that has existed throughout the modern presidency,” Obama said in an interview scheduled to air Sunday on Univision’s “Al Punto” program.

Romney has released tax returns for 2010 and provided an estimate for 2011 as part of the release of hundreds of pages of tax documents. The former Massachusetts governor filed for an extension on Friday for last year’s tax returns, a move he has made in the past.

This is laughable. Senator Barack Hussein Obama II (D-IL) didn’t want anybody to see his full birth certificate when he was running for President, and somehow, some way, couldn’t seem to get it released until April of 2011. Doug Ross and the Ace of Spades noted all of the other Obama records which have been sought, but seem to have remained private:

  1. Tax returns from the 80′s
  2. Tax returns from the 90′s
  3. Occidental College records and transcripts
  4. Columbia University records and transcripts
  5. Columbia Thesis paper
  6. Harvard University records and transcripts
  7. Medical records
  8. Illinois State Senate schedule
  9. Illinois State Senate records
  10. Law practice client list
  11. Certified Copy of Original Birth certificate
  12. Harvard Law Review articles published
  13. University of Chicago scholarly articles
  14. Record of Baptism

Amazing all of the things that President Obama has tried to hide. Why, it might even remind some people of the efforts of both Vice President Al Gore, in 2000, and Senator John Kerry (D-MA), in 2004, to paint themselves as real intellectuals and all-around smart guys, and George Bush as a dummy, only to have it come out that Mr Bush had slightly better grades than either of those august Democrats in college.1

And now, the truth: former Governor Mitt Romney (R-MA) is a very wealthy man, and it did not help Mr Romney’s campaign during the primaries when he released his previous tax return. It fed into the image that his opponents tried to create, that Mr Romney wasn’t really “one of us,” but the even more privileged son of an already wealthy man. Mr Romney paid a relatively low rate of taxation, because his earnings were primarily in the form of dividends and capital gains, which are taxed at lower rates than ordinary income. There has never been the first hint of a scandal, financial or otherwise, concerning Mr Romney, and as a senatorial candidate, a gubernatorial candidate and two-time presidential candidate, many people have tried to find one; Larry Flynt has offered bounties of a million dollars for people who can document sex scandals concerning Republicans.

It’s all a feint, of course: President Obama wants the 2012 election to be about anything, anything, besides his actual job performance, because if it is about his job performance, he loses.

Former Dem. Congressman Kennedy Alleges ‘Quid Pro Quo’ for Access to White House

Access to the Obama White House is in direct correlation to the amount of money donated to the president’s reelection effort and the Democratic party, the New York Times reports today.

The Times reports: “those who donated the most to Mr. Obama and the Democratic Party since he started running for president were far more likely to visit the White House than others. Among donors who gave $30,000 or less, about 20 percent visited the White House, according to a New York Times analysis that matched names in the visitor logs with donor records. But among those who donated $100,000 or more, the figure rises to about 75 percent. Approximately two-thirds of the president’s top fund-raisers in the 2008 campaign visited the White House at least once, some of them numerous times.”

But the most explosive allegation in the news story comes from former Democratic congressman Patrick Kennedy, son of the late Ted Kenney, who calls what the Obama White House is doing “quid pro quo.”

Patrick J. Kennedy, the former representative from Rhode Island, who donated $35,800 to an Obama re-election fund last fall while seeking administration support for a nonprofit venture, said contributions were simply a part of “how this business works.”

Obama and Transparency. I don’t know whether to laugh or cry at the chutzpah this hypocrite practices. Instead of the “Buck Stops Here”, his empty desk probably says “Do as I say, not as I do.”

  4. Right, and Mitt Romney just announce that he has requested a delay in submitting his 2011 income taxes. Looks like he has something to hide, doesn’t it.

Far more important than the wingnut grousing above, as if they are the lily white do-gooders, there are far more significant dirty tricks which they are putting in place, on top of their chronic lies. One is voter suppression, where all of a sudden a dozen or so red states are demanding that voters show photo ID’s, all to solve a problem that does not exist. That’s pretty serious.

The other, of course, is the Citizens’ United activist Republican SCOTUS decision, allowing unlimited campaign spending which is empowering the Super PACs this election cycle.

Both of these purposeful corruptions sabotage our campaigns and voting system, indicating once again that Republicans will do anything to win!

Nope! Did you miss this in the referenced article:

Apparently it’s par for the course for Mr Romney to file for an extension. Given that such an extension — which will be automatically granted — lasts for six months, it would mean that the latest date on which Mr Romney could file his taxes would be Monday, October 15th, just four weeks before the election, it would hardly seem to be to his political advantage.

The same could be said of BO.

  7. The following excerpt is from an article by Christopher Goins at CNS News of 4/14/12.

Americans Making Over $50,000 a Year Paid 93.3 Percent of All Taxes in 2010

According to statistics compiled from the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) by the Tax Foundation, those people making above $50,000 had an effective tax rate of 14.1 percent, and carried 93.3 percent of the total tax burden.

In contrast, Americans making less than $50,000 had an effective tax rate of 3.5 percent and their total share of the tax burden was just 6.7 percent.

Americans making more than $250,000 had an effective tax rate of 23.4 percent and their total share of the tax burden was 45.7 percent.

Out of the 143 million tax returns that were filed with the IRS in 2010, 58 million – or 41 percent – of those filers were non-payers…

  8. Again, ropelight, you wingnuts insist on restricting discussions to federal taxes only. When one takes into account all the other taxes, those who pay zero federal taxes actually pay about 16% of their income in taxes when all taxes are considered. Moreover, with so many not paying federal taxes, that comprises a marker of just how low the salaries of most Americans have dropped. This is a terrible economic climate for the average American, made so by Republican policy failures in the first ten years of this decade.

Our Treasury Secretary made an interesting point yesterday on MtP:

    Bush deficit: $4.9 trillion,
    Obama deficit: $5.0 trillion,
Policies to put out Bush economic fire, 12%,
Remainder of Obama deficit attributable to Bush policy carryover,
due to unpaid for two wars, two tax cuts, and Medicare D, all unpaid for, all borrowed.

So keep this in mind, Republicans, the next time you want to criticize President Obama for his deficit, 100 – 12 = 88% of which is due to paying for Bush’s debt policy carry overs!!!

  9. “The same could be said of BO.”

No, because President Obama released his 2011 federal tax return.

Contrast the President’s income of around $750k, with 20% tax. Compare that to Romney for 2010, $21 million, with 14% tax. Tells you something, doesn’t it Yorkshire.

And of his $750k, the President donates 22% to charity. That says something as well!

  10. Yes, it tells everyone you are very proud of your sinful violations of the Tenth Commandment. It also tells everyone else that you are working very hard to get other people to sinfully violate the Tenth Commandment with you. You sure love to sin, Wagonwheel.

    Oh, racketeering Chicago Way.

It’s called Pay to Play in Detroit. But once you’re caught you can expect very severe punishment.

“Ex-Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick’s pocketbook just took a hit as the Michigan parole board today increased his restitution from $160 a month to $500 a month, concluding he can afford to pay a lot more than he has been.

Kilpatrick, for example, had been paying more than $314 a month for cable – more than double his restitution payment …

Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy had asked Kilpatrick’s restitution be increased from $160 a month to $1,000, citing his lavish lifestyle.

In August, Kilpatrick, his wife and three sons moved into a 5,016-square-foot home valued at $338,400 in Grand Prairie, Texas. The home is bigger than the Manoogian mansion, and an upgrade from the Texas home that the Kilpatricks were previously living in: a 3,588-square-foot home valued at $235,000.

In a December letter to the parole board, Worthy wrote that Kilpatrick is paying cash for food at stores like Sam’s Club, Costco and Kroger, “most likely to avoid the paper trail.” It also said that Kilpatrick claims to earn $3,750 a month, pays $2,600 a month in rent and more than $800 a month for a car. Worthy also wrote that Kilpatrick is spending almost $2,000 more than he’s making “

Modern liberalism at work in the American Justice system.

  12. So are Obama’s college transcripts going to be released? How about his Harvard legal writings … if any?

What you need to always bear in mind is that relationships with liberals are not reciprocal. They are nihilists fundamentally … and their game is to huckster.

  13. “George Bush as a dummy, only to have it come out that Mr Bush had slightly better grades than either of those august Democrats in college.”

That was a defining moment wasn’t it. As Ann Coulter pointed out, intellect is considered by liberals to be the gold standard of comparative human value. Until such time as their leader is shown to be comparatively lacking. Then other “qualities” become preeminent. In Algore’s case it’s that he has swollen into a replica of a vaguely Occidental looking Chairman Mao.

It does. And, Obama gave all his refund back to the Treasury. At least HE backs up his words with personal deeds. Unlike SINP who only paid what he was legally liable, yet wants everyone else “to give back.”

Yeah, it’s SO serious that 70-80% of the public, including majorities of those supposedly being disenfranchised by these measures, support them.

It’s only “serious” to people with a serious screw loose. You’re waaaaay out of touch, SINP.

  16. So are Obama’s college transcripts going to be released? How about his Harvard legal writings … if any?

If I were Romney, I’d demand this very thing before I released my tax returns.

Hey SINP — why hasn’t Obama released all this yet? Does he have something to hide, hmm??

Would you then agree that anyone who can be shown to have knowingly perpetrated an act of identity fraud in casting a ballot (accepting money or gratuities in order to do so would legally constitute prima facie evidence of the same) should be stripped of the franchise forever?

You would go along with that wouldn’t you Perry?

  18. “And of his $750k, the President donates 22% to charity. That says something as well!”

That does tell me something Wagonwheel: the Obama’s are compassionate people even with their own money! Very unusual for a Democrat liberal. For example: Biden gave 1.4% to charity, Al Gore a pawltry 0.2% (actually a meazely $353.). Now you may hate Mitt but he gave 19% of his 21 million ) about 4 million dollars or four times what Obama earned) to charity, bush gave 18% of his income and in 2005 The Evil Dick Cheney donated a whopping 77% to charity, what a nasty man.

On average, according to polls and statistics, conservatives give 30% more to charity than liberals do. They even give more at things like Blood Drives than liberals do. But don’t worry, the liberals get to play “The Compassion Card” by their committment to give Other people’s Money to charity just not their own. BTW, in 2011 June and I donated 12% to charity (over and above what the government stole from us) and that dosen’t include the time I put in in charity events. So how do we greedy conservatives compair to a compassionate liberal like yourself on charitable giving?

BTW, our effective tax rate was also about 21% like the Obama’s, however it was on about a third of their adjusted gross income. Boy are we greedy, self-centered, unpatriotic A-holes just NOT paying our fair share! Your projections about us are more of a reflection of yourselves. But that’s a typical leftist, you gotta have someone to hate.

  19. Atta’ boy. Sweep everything away and avert your eyes, it’s all anecdotal after all. Besides, the information’s out there for those who really care. However, if I did have time to surf around and gather all the links, and if I did actually know how to copy and paste/post them (which I don’t), would that in any way change your mind about anything? Of course not, so why would a busy man like myself waste time masturbating to the “citation please” dodge? So, sorry. If you don’t like an anticdote then ignore the post. I frankly couldn’t care less.
