From From Where I Sit: Apparently, some civil liberties . . .

. . . are more equal than others.

  1. So you’re saying the ACLU doesn’t have the freedom you have, and can’t make decisions with their own space to provide a gun-free environment in the same way you make decisions with your own blog [Off topic comment portion deleted; please refer to the Editor's previous comment. 2. No Anna , my dear, I think the point is they (the ACLU) does not want Americans to have their Civil Liberties in ACLU space. Wow! So they are for civil liberties , but at the same time don’t want one to employ those liberties at their store. Sounds kinda stupid to me. How about you?

  3. To me, it sounds like someone just couldn’t see the monumental hypocrisy of posting such a sign so prominently on their door. Yes, I agree: the ACLU has every right, on their private property, to prohibit people from carrying firearms. But it seems strange that they’d be so dense as to make a big sign out of it.

This is, of course, incorrect. There is no civil right to carry a gun onto someone else’s premises just as there is no right to free speech on someone else’s blog, as demonstrated by the Editor and his cowardly censoring out of my noting that he provides cover for the sexual slander of young women by other commentators.

If you wish to call the ACLU hypocrites, you might first turn your attention to someone closer who claims to “always support the free expression of ideas” but obviously doesn’t.

  5. Those “No Guns Allowed” signs always crack me up. They might just as well put up a sign that says “We’re unarmed, please rob us!”

  6. When guns are outlawed or unconstitutionally restricted, only criminals will have guns. For reference, I give you Chicago and Washington, DC. Check out those murder rates! That’s Liberalism for you!
