Dependency Is Sucking The Life Out Of Liberty

Always remember that the Government you become dependent upon, is the same entity that controls you, takes or cuts what you are dependent upon, and then takes your Liberty. Be careful what you ask for, you may actually get it. We are seeing the religious war that has started over provisions of the Obama Health Care Rationing Law.

Dependency Index Surges 23% Under President Obama

The American public’s dependence on the federal government shot up 23% in just two years under President Obama, with 67 million now relying on some federal program, according to a newly released study by the Heritage Foundation.

The conservative think tank’s annual Index of Dependence on Government tracks money spent on housing, health, welfare, education subsidies and other federal programs that were “traditionally provided to needy people by local organizations and families.”

  1. Everything is proceeding as the Emperor has foreseen. With borrowed money he has TARPed the plutocrats and Stimulated the bureaucrats. He has affirmed the unionists and scourged the infidels. He has food stamped those he first made jobless as he has forclosed on their homes. He has betrayed our soldiers and emboldened our enemies. He has squeezed the once thriving middle class into increasing poverty and dependency.

May the truth of Obama’s works be revealed to even those who willfully turn their heads and pretend they just don’t see.

And on the Seventh Day he arrested anyone who will disagree with him.

I think they’ll have it to 8% in September, so by November it can be 7.9%. I have Sub-Zero Trust in this occupier of the WH.

“The American public’s dependence on the federal government shot up 23% in just two years under President Obama, with 67 million now relying on some federal program, according to a newly released study by the Heritage Foundation.”

We are at the early stages of recovering from the Great Recession, in which about 8 million jobs were lost all told since the beginning of the Great Recession under George W Bush in late 2008. Here are some numbers:

    * Obama was inaugurated in January 2009 when the economy was in free fall and we were losing about 700,000 jobs a month. A total of 4,400,000 jobs were lost before Obama took office.

    * The employment situation did not bottom out until late 2009 or early 2010. An additional 4,300,000 jobs were lost between the time that Obama took office and the bottom (“trough”) of the recession.

    * That’s a total job loss of 8,700,000 jobs over approximately 2 years.
Since the economy started to add jobs under Obama, 1,800,000 jobs have been added using seasonally-adjusted numbers (See below).

    * Since the economy started to add jobs under Obama, 4,444,000 jobs have been added using “real” unadjusted numbers. We have now added more jobs in “real” numbers than were lost during the first year of Obama’s term.

    * We still need many, many more jobs to overcome the loss of jobs that started in 2008 and to make up for the increase in population since 2008.

    * We’re doing better in terms of making up for lost jobs than Reagan did at this point in his presidency and than FDR did at this time during his presidency.

Considering the depth of the foreclosure crisis, and considering the strong head winds we now face from Germany and Asia, and considering the debt crises in Europe, it should come as no surprise that recovery is difficult and will be slower than we would like. This would be true regardless of who were President or what party were in power.

Thus, it should be no surprise that the “Index of Dependence” would be higher than we would like, except to those whose main thrust is to blame President Obama for everything which has gone wrong, and to not credit him for anything that he and his party have done right!

  6. Hello Perry. I’m glad you’re back.

Obama certainly deserves to be criticized for the wrongs he’s done, and conversely he also deserves credit for the things he’s done right, no matter how few and how inconsequential.

However, because Obama’s wrongs are not only so many and so broadly destructive, but also because they stem from his pathological antagonism for America’s core values, the tyrant must be removed from office and prevented from inflicting further damage on our people and on our republican institutions.

Also, it doesn’t help that Obama’s enablers and apologists keep pretending that he’s above the law and can ignore the US Constitution when it conflicts with his totalitarian agenda.

  7. If one is in elected office and expected to govern, I don’t know how else the President can move forward when his opposition refuses to cooperate with him to legislate solutions to our problems. Certainly you would have to agree that he tried to compromise during his first two years in office.

I’ve been hearing/reading of your complaint for a while, though rarely are their specifics which demonstrate this so-called “totalitarian” agenda he supposedly has.

And example of the President’s compromising just happened: He backed down on the contraception issue, based on the objection of the Roman Catholic Church and their adherents, giving choice to those who feel that their religious values would have been otherwise compromised. Personally, I think he did the right thing.
